We were recently given the opportunity to review a beautiful, handmade Bolga basket from AToyGarden.com, an online boutique for natural, fair-trade children's toys.
"These beautiful handmade baskets, which are called Bolga baskets, are made by artists in a small village in Northern Ghana called Bolgatanga. They have been made there for decades, providing a livelihood for many local families. Bolga baskets are made out of a natural grass known locally as Kinkanhe. Some of the grass is dyed with vibrant colors and is woven into intricate patterns to make the basket. The handles are wrapped in leather, making them comfortable for a child to carry. There are countless uses for these wonderful handmade baskets. Patterns vary, most are colorful displaying different geometric patterns. Fair Trade. Baskets are 6-9 inches across."
What we thought: A LOVES her new Bolga Basket! She loves it so much she can't decide what to keep in it:) She has already told me she wants to use it as her Easter basket. She has also been using it in a variety of ways as she waits for Easter to arrive. She has used it for hair accessories, jewelry, makeup and even as a "stable" for her little ponies:) It is definitely a versatile piece and is beautifully handmade. She loves the colors. These baskets come in a variety of colors and shapes and would make great Easter baskets or organizational tools. AToyGarden.com has a huge selection of really awesome natural toys. ABCD Diaries gives our Bolga Basket from AToyGarden.com and A+!
