As homeschoolers, books are our most important tool for learning. Our favorite place to find great books is Scholastic. We can always count on finding wonderful books at affordable prices every time we shop.
For the next few weeks we will posting several roundup posts for some of our favorite Scholastic releases for Spring and early Summer reading.
When it comes to learning about history, we love to read living books that really bring the past to life. The Ten True Tales series from Scholastic is a fantastic way to do just that. Each book contains 10 exciting stories based on the actual people that lived them.
Our latest favorites are World War I Heroes, Titanic Young Survivors and Vietnam War Heroes.
Titanic: Young Survivors
About This Book:

Each story is short, but full of detail, painting an amazingly true-to-life picture that allows kids (and adults) to learn about the event in an in depth and personal way.
There is also a glossary full of words that the reader may not know, which is very helpful. My kiddos retain way more of the info they learn from these books than they do when reading dry textbooks.
I would highly recommend the Ten True Tales series to readers ages 8 and up!
