As homeschoolers, books are our most important tool for learning. Our favorite place to find great books is Scholastic. We can always count on finding wonderful books at affordable prices every time we shop.
For the next few weeks we will posting several roundup posts for some of our favorite Scholastic releases for Spring and early Summer reading.

Lucky by Chris Hill

The kiddos loved this fast-paced adventure story giving us an inside look of what living in the animal kingdom might be like:)
The Hero Two Doors Down by Sharon Robinson
Based on the true story of a boy in Brooklyn who became neighbors and friends with his hero, Jackie Robinson.
Steven Satlow is an eight-year-old boy living in Brooklyn, New York, which means he only cares about one thing-the Dodgers. Steve and his father spend hours reading the sports pages and listening to games on the radio. Aside from an occasional run-in with his teacher, life is pretty simple for Steve.
But then Steve hears a rumor that an African American family is moving to his all-Jewish neighborhood. It's 1948 and some of his neighbors are against it. His hero, Jackie Robinson, broke the color barrier in baseball the year before.
Then it happens--Steve's new neighbor is none other than Jackie Robinson! Steve is beyond excited about living two doors down from the Robinson family. He can't wait to meet Jackie. This is going to be the best baseball season yet! How many kids ever get to become friends with their hero?
This is a great read for sneaking in a little history. Young kiddos and parents alike (especially sports fans) will likely enjoy this one!
The 39 Clues Doublecross Book 3: Mission Hurricane by Jenny Goebel
The blockbuster series continues with a Cahill family member from the past bent on revenge!
Who is the Outcast and why is he threatening the lives of innocent people? Book 3 reveals a shocking secret that will send Amy and Dan--and the world--reeling.
Another action-packed adventure! My kiddos, who love mystery books, really enjoyed this one!
Ranger in Time: Long Road to Freedom by Kate Messner
Ranger is a time-traveling golden retriever with search-and-rescue training. In this adventure, he goes to a Maryland plantation during the days of American slavery, where he meets a young girl named Sarah. When she learns that the owner has plans to sell her little brother, Jesse, to a plantation in the Deep South, it means they could be separated forever. Sarah takes their future into her own hands and decides there's only one way to run -- north.
A lovely, fun book that teaches about an important period in history while entertaining young readers, is told from a dog's point of view and we thought it was awesome!
Scholastic has plenty of great books for all reading levels. Get started on your summer reading lists today to combat boredom and encourage reading all summer long!
