We recently had the chance to try out Time4Learning, an online education program for Preschool through 12th grade. This is an all-in-one curriculum that covers Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. You can also add additional subjects like Art and Foreign Language.
It was fairly easy to set up an account and when I did encounter an issue, the customer service team quickly solved it, within a few hours of my request...a definite plus:)
This curriculum makes it really easy on the parent. The lessons are self-grading and parents can easily review reports on the amount of time spent on each subject, the amount of questions the student completes, and much more. It's easy to pinpoint where the student is struggling or excelling which is a great tool to have!
The lessons are fun and engaging which keeps the students excited about school each day. Many lessons include fun games that both kids enjoyed.
My kiddos did complain that the Science and Social Studies lessons were a little dry and involved too much reading, but before this curriculum we usually did lots of hands on projects and read-alouds for these subjects, so my kiddos were a bit spoiled :) I did notice some of the Science lessons were a bit outdated. For example, the lesson on Pluto referred to it as the farthest planet from the Sun and nowadays it isn't considered a full-fledged planet. For the most part, these lessons covered a wide range of topics in an efficient and educational manner.
The kiddos loved the idea of earning their playground time by spending time on lessons. The playground is full of educational games and the parent decides how many minutes of work the student must complete before being able to access the playground. You can also set up how many minutes each day the student is allowed to stay in the playground.
Overall, we found Time4Learning to be a very affordable all-in-one online curriculum that is definitely worth a shot if you have kiddos who enjoy doing school with a computer-based program. It offers easy grading and reporting, is convenient and flexible and provides a large tool arsenal for parents.
