Our thoughts:
The good:
-Great attention to detail; from the crowds, to the individual event props.
The crowds and on lookers felt pretty realistic without being just a static group of misc. characters.
-Multiple control options for each game, giving unique advantages for each persons play styles.
-Detailed step-by-step descriptions on how to play each game
-Olympic record and personal best records are displayed for the older events. The newer events such as rock climbing(officially called "Sport Climbing") and canoeing don't have WR info since their new.
-Everyone's costume changed with each event and character strengths in different events were obvious and helped to choose the best participant for event.
-They also include some cool 8-bit and 16-bit game modes that kept the game fun.
Our only issue so far:
-The motion controls take a lot of time to master and initially players will most likely sway toward the "buttons" option. It's easy to see how the motion controls could be pretty useful if you're in serious mode and want to shoot for the records.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and attention to detail of this game. If we were comparing game play to another game, we would say it's like a competitors version of Mario Party, which is fitting since it's the Olympic games. Great for gamers ages 10 and up.
